Tamron 28-75 f2.8... OMG, brilliant

These are my shots from aquarium, taken with SIGMA 24-70 EX DG and K10D. I've used ISO800, 1/20 sec exposure and f/8.0 aperture.

Kamil, that shot of the anemone is particularly nice, especially considering the slowish exposure time.

Yeah! SR in K10D is amazing! Just for Tamron 28-75 enthusiast: Sigma has got slightly faster AF!

One thing I definitely noticed today is that I could've used the extra 20mm on the tele end--that's why so many of my shots were at 55--it simply wouldn't go any further. I still would want something wider to cover the occasion where I would want a wide, but even then, I've still got the 18-55 that would work for that until I could get a better wider lens.

Those 28-75 images blow me away!

If any of you have different thoughts, I'm still open to other ideas...

I was looking at this lens as well on B&H, and though it says "for pentax DSLRs" i just want to make sure before i pull the trigger and get it, it will go onto my K100D Super. Anyone know (from personal experience), or know where I could find out?

This lens definitely interests me..

However I also did a little reading on the Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 and it seems to have a more ideal focal length for me/a little bit wider.. Very hard to find info on it/Pentax users of this lens though for whatever reason.

I have the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and it is a fine lens, but give the nod to the tamron.

I got it, but it has been raining....... But you still got to shoot something right?...

The OOF areas look pretty good. And it is fairly sharp wide open... I have had a bit of an issue focusing some times at 28mm f2.8, I found if I zoom out and get focus and then zoom back I always get a better focus. I know that happens with some zooms and I hope I will figure out a better work around.

Nothing special here but thought I would post em up anyway. This seems like it will be a fun lens.

Gus - Those shots are great! I always loved the bokeh of my Tamron. I miss it (sniff sniff) I'm currently using the EF-S 17-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and while it's decent (AF is REALLY fast) it optically pales in comparison to my Tamron. I'd get the Tamron for Canon, but it doesn't have USM so the AF performance isn't as good. I think I'll just save my pennies for the 24-70mm L.

Funny you should mention the 24-70L glass. I had a pro photog shooting the event I was managing last weekend. (I always chat up the pros when I have them trapped in my building)

Anyway, he had that L glass on his camera and after I asked him about it and told him I had just ordered the 28-75 for my pentax, he let me fire off a few shots with it. Man, in dim lighting it was amazingly fast... but I would guess the cost of the camera/lens/flash combo at $4000 ish, so it had better be fast. But what a nice lens. If you are saving your pennies for it then, may I suggest a penny drive. Get the family and friends to donate their old pennies to the cause....

So here I was with my little pentax and heavy old vivitar series 1 macro (MF) hanging from my neck, holding this pro gear. I had never felt more like a ___________. I thanked him and then went about shooting a few shots with my camera. After I got home and dumped them onto the computer I actually had a few that I liked and felt much better about my K100d and old MF lens.

Actually it was hard taking the Vivitar Series 1 off of the camera to put on my new 28-75... I really like that 105mm lens, the most fun of any of my old lenses.
But I need to put the 28-75 thru its paces and It looks like the weather may let me today..
