Sigma 10-20mm owners...

To all who own Sigma 10-20mm - l think this would be my lens of choice for landscapes, but, I like using CPL for this type of photography often.

Is there any vignetting with CPL and this lens, specially on the 10-15mm?

Regards,
D

I honestly haven't found too much vignetting on the 10-20mm with a low profile PL filter (eg. Hoya Pro1D PL). I have to recheck my photos as it's been a while... On the other hand, I had a real hard time getting the polarizing effect to remain even across the frame. That's the other problem with the ultra-wide.

Frank Fletcher.

Ps. That has been one of my favourite lenses. My primary subjects are landscapes.

Thanks for the info Frank, certainly makes sense - something to think about, as I really like using CPL for landscapes. I may just have to consider 16-45mm or 16-50mm and call it a day. I know there is also Sigma 15-35mm, will see...

No problem. Have you seen the Photozone reviews? Those, along with alot of online photos helped to convince me. using it at around 12mm is just wild. Personally, I'd hate to part with my 10-20mm even with it's quirks.

One note about vignetting - I don't really shoot at large apertures on the 10-20mm. I haven't found a need for it yet because of the nature of the lens. That plus the IQ goes way down. So... I don't really know about how it handles filters wide open.

If I get some time, I'll post a yucky uneven PL effect so you can see.

Frank.

Ps. Worst comes to worst, you could always use the 10-20 at it's upper range if the PL effect is too uneven. You just have to really watch for it because it's super easy to miss in the viewfinder.

No vignetting at 10mm and the colour + contrast are amazing. I had been thinking whether I should have this zoom instead of Da 12-24
