Grit in the focus ring of my 31/1.8

It feels like some grit has worked its way into the focus ring of my well-loved 31/1.8. I'm not really keen on leaving it that way, but I don't want to cause any damage. I would hate to get canned air anywhere near the thing and heaven forbid i disassemble it. Or should i just stick it in the mail for Eric Hendrickson without another thought? He's done fabulous work on my film bodies in the past.

What does the PF hive mind suggest?

If you are afraid to do anything on the lens because you don't want to damage it ... the only thing is to send it in to Eric for a nice clean.

The only real option is dis-assembly, cleaning and relubrication. The grit will work its way in to the lubricants if it hasn't already. Compressed air will just blow some of the grit in further.
