Sima 80-200mm lens

I found a Sima 80-200mm, 1:4.5 Macro MF lens in a charity shop, and since it cost only a tenner, bought it. I couldn't find any information about it on google, and haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Has anyone heard of this lens? What does it do?

Thanks for the reply - although mine is *Sima*, not Sigma, which I suspect to be the poor country cousin. The manufacturer seems to be most famous for a 100mm soft focus lens which was popular in the 1980s and nothing much else. It's a big lens, and too heavy to use handheld, so I guess there's nothing to it but to pack the tripod and go to the park to see what sort of photos it will take.

Wow, sorry, never heard of it. Good luck.

I'm embarrassed now - another good look has revealed that only the lens cap is Sima, the glass itself appears to be a "Sun". Less obscure but equally exotic.

Not sure if this of any use, re: Sun

Sun - Camerapedia

Apparently Sun lenses were also sold under other brands as well, like this lens (which I have in m42):
Aetna Rokunar (Sun Optics) 70-210/4 Auto Zoom

I've never really done anything with that lens, it's big and heavy, but it's unique looking.

Thanks, guinnessman! This is how mine looks like; slightly less impressive than the Aetna Rokunar but big and heavy nonetheless - forget using it without tripod and remote release. I have a bad feeling I'll end up with a whole collection of weird glass if I keep buying everything I see in charity shops and flea markets...
