SMC Pentax-A or M 50mm

Hi iv done a search but to no result. What i want to know is what is the diferance between the "SMC Pentax-M 50mm" and the "SMC Pentax-A 50mm"
Is it that the "A" version stops down automaticly or am i wrong?
Thanks for your help, i am just wanting to know before i buy.
Cheers Ross
EDIT: The lense will be mounted on a Pentax K100D Super

The A version will be little easier to use because it will meter automatically (without pressing AE-L), and you can control the aperture setting with the thumb wheel. Also matrix metering will be available with the A, but not with the M.

The M lens will stop down automatically when you shoot in manual mode, but it will not meter unless you press the AE-L.
