DA* 50-135 Question

Is it just me or do most of the pictures I've found from this lens look overly dark? I've been reviewing the pics on pbase, some 900+ of them, and they all look like they were shot in poor light. It gives the feeling of looking down a dark tunnel at a lit object.

Maybe it's just me or the specific examples I've seen, but so far I'm not as thrilled as I thought I would be. The 16-50 doesn't show this same look, nor do the various 70/80 - 200 lenses out there.

Has anyone else noticed this? Are there better pools of pics with this lens to review?

Thanks,

Greg

You have to take many posts with a grain of salt as well. So many images have the saturation and contrast boosted in PP. I've not reviewed the Pbase shots but you might want to check the following out:

I can't remember very many complaints from anyone who owns the lens, so if you'r thinking of a purchase, I'd say it's a solid choice.

hmmmm, not sure what's up with the pbase pix, but I'll link to some of my 50-135m shots, and I don't think they're dark at all.

From the day I bought the lens
Valley Forge National Park - Washington Chapel

All church shots (except the W-I-D-E one)
Charlotte & Rebecca's Baptism

And here's another one -

I don't believe that the images from the DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 are too dark because of the lens. I think it's probably a user problem.

Is your monitor calibrated in any way? Just a stab in the dark.

Ive had no problems with the results of this lens, its been superb so far. All these pics are tests I took when I 1st got the lens, they are straight from camera and cropped..

The last shot was actually taken in a tunnel hence the darkish sign.

These shots don't have that look. Go look through the pbase pics and maybe you'll see what I'm referring to. I'm so used to seeing such warm, contrasty and vibrant pics from pentax glass, that I was just surprised when I looked through most of the shots on pbase. I came away underwhelmed by the 50-135 is all. On the other hand, the 16-50 shots on pbase show much better.

Thanks for the replies and linked pics as it must really have been user error as noted above.
