Tokina Gripe

Pentax, why on earth did you not release the 11-16 and 16-28 when you were partnering with Tokina???? I am aware that having the FF size of the 16-28 may have been unnecessary, but come on, the lenses are beautiful! When Canikon people are suggesting them as one of the only acceptable 3rd party lenses out there, they've got some merit to them, and with the IQ issues of the 16-50 that people have mentioned, having the 16-28 may have been a good idea... Certainly the 11-16 should have been a no brainer to put into the lineup.

Ok, gripe over, and I am excited to see what is coming to replace the 16-50 because I need a bloody wide angle WR lens for walkaround to compliment my 80-200...

There's a wide zoom on the roadmap, with more than a 1.5 zoom range.

Well, we all kind of wish Pentax had better third party support/partnerships. I guess the only way to get that is to increase Pentax market share. So, buy more Pentax cameras

the support was there. Tokina released their 100 macro, 16-50 and 50-135's, and 12-24 and they are the same lens as our DA*'s and DFA, it's painfully obvious and the partnership was open, but I just don't see why they didn't complete the lineup with the 11-16 which most Canikon people will tell you is better than their offerings at less than half the price. I just don't get it. I couldn't care less about Sigma/Tamron, but the fact that Pentax didn't offer us all of the lenses from that partnership, as well as seriously upcharging for the same lens is just irritating.

Roadmap also has only a DA lens, not the DA*. I would like the guarantee of WR and non-screw AF which from a camera maker that makes almost all of its bodies WR, it should transfer to all but the DA-L lenses.

Personally, I have more confidence in screw-drive AF than in the SDM of the DA* lenses.

apparently that has been remedied so say the photokina interview. I still prefer lens driven AF over screw for the noise. Canikon have it figured out, sigma has it figured out, no reason Pentax can't do the same

I prefer screw drive, but I must say I do really like Tokina lenses. All but one I've used have been pretty damn good.
