Tamron 70-200 and Sigma APO 2x EX DG

Hi there, I've been looking for info about this but I found nothing. I'd like to know if anyone tried this combination, the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 with the Sigma 2x APO.
I read only an old thread in a forum where someone was complaining about this combo. Anyone can help? Or maybe i should buy the 1,4x?

The sigma APO 2x EX tele converter design is somewhat unique and has an optical design that protrudes into the rear of the lens. You need a lens with a recessed rear element, and an opening 35mm in diameter at least 12 mm deep to accept the tele converter. It only is useable on certain sigma and Pentax long fast tele's and zooms

Also the Pentax mount TC has no HSM power contacts

Very thanks for the info, Instead with the 1.4x it will works good? What about the quality? There's much difference in terms of quality between the 1.4x and a crop of the photo?
