Smc takumar 50 1.4: Worth keeping?

This is the performance of my lens.. It's not in perfect condition, can someone tell me if the lens is worth keeping or should I get a new one?

Apart from the under-exposure and questionable white balance, it looks good to me. I assume it was f/1.4, so the DOF is extremely thin, but the pollen of the upper blossom look sharp (as much as one can tell at this resolution).

Keep it. Only when you have experience with other lenses will you be able to better judge its quality. I bet you will be coming back to it.

I will echo what others have wrote...it looks fine to me. Which camera are you using? Remember the green button is your friend Also remember, the depth of field at 1.4 is razor thin so it may take some practice and really good eye sight or focusing aids to nail focus.

Having said all that...I have a 50mm lens and i rarely use it, it is an odd focal length FOR ME. If you find that it is collecting dust and you aren't a collector, sell it and buy something that you will use.

The SMC Tak is the best if the bunch including the original 8 IMHO (I have owned them all at one time or another and three 8's at the same time). The coatings on the SMC make the lens work well in glare prone settings.

That's obviously the Canon T4i.

Problems are tough to sell because the buyer can't really tell how much the issue will affect him. The price will take a big hit.
