FA50 Macro Lens Hood?

Have just received my FA50 f/2.8 Macro and FA50 f/1.7
I gather from postings here that a long lens hood will be suitable for the 1.7.

How about the 2.8?
Seeing how the front element is so recess into lens body.
Is a lens hood needed?
If so, how big should it be?

I'm thinking of those cheap round metal hood on eBay.

I found this quote from the review page for this lens (f2.8 version):

QuoteQuote:
The optics are seated that far from the front that no separate lens hood is required
