Recommend me a fast MF Zoom Lens

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a fast zoom lens e.g. f/2.8. I can't justify the price tag for an AF version so thinking about an old MF model. Can anyone recommend one?

It would be useful if it had the auto exposure feature so I can use the green button. I've spotted the Tamron Adaptall being mentioned and a Vivitar one. Also does anyone know of any places to buy these in the UK? there isn't many on ebay although I guess I could search another country.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Sorry! not sure how I forgot to include that, I'd say 70-300 or similar, also happy with 80-200 etc.

Cheers

Sigma 75-200 f3.8 AF
autofocus and not slow. I just bought one for 40 euros
its a step above the 55-300 on image quality although it is shorter
Mighty Mike is selling one for 125 $ in the marketplace. You could probably get the price to go down a bit since its been there for a long time

Funny you should ask. I just scored a mint Tokina 80-200 2.8 pka on ebay for 149.00. The price was a mistake on his part as they are typically in the 300-400 range. Rock sold build and very compact for a constant 2.8 in that zoom range. The image quality is fantastic! If my life ever slows down I'll post a review. I have been playing with it for a week and would certainly recommend it.

Its also very easy to find a good one going very cheaply. I found a mint one for my nephew in its original box for $10.

The F70-210 is not that expensive, mine was £29 a year ago.

I second this. Not quite F/2.8 but you can usually find them for good prices. Two additional benes, the lens is small for what it is, easily hand holdable, and it has a "macro" (read close focus) function at 70mm.
