pentax A 50mm f1.2 step down ring

hi all

does the pentax A 50 f1.2 play nicely with a step down ring to 49mm (and 49mm hood if you use one) without vignetting?

my intention is to use all my 49mm filters with it.

thanks

The 50/1.2 lenses are more prone to vignetting than the other Pentax 50-55mm manual FF lenses, so I would not recommend a step-down ring. However this is on FF film, so it may be ok on a cropped sensor.

Thanks a lot

No need to buy another 10 stop nd 6 stop nd and cpl if they are all on 49mm filters

All f1.2 lenses are not very good at f1.2.
Try using ND8 or stacking NDs in day light and use f1.2 and see it for yourself

It's a dream lens, so just show her you care about her and get the right sized stuff to fit her.

Well, this made me curious. I don't have any 49mm filters, but I do have an A50/1.2 and a 52->49 step down ring. I did a quick test, shooting a blank wall with flash, with bare lens, lens plus step-down ring, and lens plus step-down ring and screw-in hood, quite a deep hood. All shots at f/1.2. If there's any vignetting I can't detect it.

There is an astonishing amount of sexual innuendo in that statement.

Coming from an Aussie, I take that as a compliment.

Best hood that I've found for my A50 f/1.2 that is cheap and commonly available is the Nikon NH-3
Just get the ND 52mm filters, its an f/1.2, it sucks up light, don't cripple it.

I don't know what the "get new filters" crowd is smoking. Yes, a step down ring will work on APS-c.
