This part of the world the difference is not too much though.
Bought my M50 1.7 for about 45usd
44-2 50usd mint cont looks and feels new (sharp as well)
S-M-C Tak 50 1.4 with Spotmatic 100usd (Spotmatic around 45-50usd)
FA 50 1.4 200usd
Pancolar 50 1.8 100us
Super Tak 55 1.8 40us
K50 1.4 100us
M 50 1.4 70us
Not cheap around here but worth trying all of them....

I got a Yashinon 5 cm f2 that looks identical to the auto takumar 55 2,2 but even more like the tominon 5 cm f2. I guess it allmost the same.
Tomioko made some yashica lenses of what i recall?

Its dirt cheap and m42 mount. The focusing is smoother than my smc takumar 50 1.4

Heres some sampel i found on the tominion lens:

The Tak 50/1.4 ( and K-mount 50/1.4s too) is nice, but it is not worth the price difference when compared to the cheaper f/1.7 or f/1.8 Pentax lenses.
What he said, assuming you really don't need extra 1/2 stop (and most of us don't).

Can you say if one of these two
is any better at infinity than the other?

I would say the SMC Tak and the K 50 1.4 is the same lens but with the K fit.
Some here says they prefer the SMC Tak before the K but I myself think there pretty equal, but could have different coler tones because of different coatings but optically they are the same.

For me its a must to have both.
Sometimes i go with the K 50 and the M 135, and somestimes eith the Tak 28 and 50 and macro and then i dont want to mess with the adapter in field.

I owned one for a couple of days, but was not impressed and took it back.

Yes, it's a very nice lens. I've used it on the K10 and got great results. But my Takumar Auto 55 / 1.8 takes bragging rights.

That's interesting. I heard the Chinon 55 was nice, but I've never seen one in person.

Does either of you have an opinion on the Fujinon 55/1.8? I found that I preferred it to the Takumar I had, although I don't remember right now which Takumar it was, or what condition it was in. I prefer both them to the Pentax-M 50/1.7 and Pentax-M 50/2.

Ive seen the Fujinon on top of some 50īs test in color balance, while the chinon mentioned as a "cold night lens"

The Chinon 55 is tomioko made?

My only Fujinon is the 55 / 2.2, which is OK but not great, it's a very useable lens and the colours are always good. I rarely use it because I've got some better lenses, not because it's a bad lens. The 1.8 has a very good reputation though.

I actually have that one too, but the truth is I barely looked at it because I assumed it was a crippled version of the 1.8, and therefore of no interest.

Does anyone know anything about the rare Fujinon 55mm f/1.6? I saw one in sold listings on eBay when price checking an ST705 body.
