What Lenses "Won't" You Buy?

For me, no:

Soligor,

Osawa

Quantaray

Sears

J.C. Penney

Chinon

Russian

Chinese

Vivitar(current)

Pro-MC

Kenko

Screw-mount

If it ain't Tamron/Sigma/Tokina/Pentax, "nuttin doin!"(who came up with that phrase?).

Cropped body primes with the exception of maybe the DA15.

I contemplated not buying any DA lenses, but the 15/21 are cool. There was a time I wouldn't buy OEM lenses because they were so pedestrian-looking and slow.

Any new Pentax until they reconsider the price fixing scheme they are currently enforcing.

The only lenses I won't buy are the ones I can't afford.

LOL and I agree. Except that I seem to lie to myself about which ones I can afford.

Sure they will! You just need the right machine tools.

What lenses WON'T I buy? Well, I've got a 1915 Bausch & Lomb Rapid Rectilinear ~6" f/8, so I only buy lenses made after that. Or before.

I'm with Colby. There's no reason the 16-50 should have doubled in price since it came out... The Tokina is reasonably priced at $970, but the Pentax branded one at $1500 is ridiculous. It's higher than Canon and Nikons 17-55 equivalents. That lens is not worth anywhere near $1500. $1k is about where it should be now that they have apparently fixed the SDM failures, but nowhere near $1500. The 18-135 is not a $500 lens either. Nikons 18-105 is $400, which is a good price, the extra 20mm's is not worth another $100.

I won't buy lenses with plastic mounts or internal focus *macro's are the exception since it isn't feasible to make a good macro with IF. Won't buy an AF lens without some sort of quick-shift. Tokinas clutch ticks me off, but it's the best option out there for the 80-200's, other than the FA* which is 3x the price and found once in a blue moon.
I'd be hard pressed to buy another Sigma or Tamron lens as well. I like my 150-500, but WR matters to me in most of my lenses, and the build quality of those two lenses is not up to snuff with Pentax or Tokina, they just feel cheap. Nothing against their IQ or anything, but I don't like having a meaty metal framed body and putting an all plastic lens on the front of it. Just a thing...

Soligor too, I think some Quantaray, probably some JCPenney and Chinon too.

I really can't see why I should judge a lens on its maker, if it's good/nice/cheap I will get it if I want it no-matter the text on it.
The only totally bum maker I got is a Delta but it's only based on one lens.

Ditto on that, sadly. No DA* in my future, both for financial and size/weight reasons; the 60-250mm would be ideal otherwise. My finance manager would be quite upset, and the chiropractor would take his cut as well. I'll struggle along with the DA55-300 and higher ISO, but 250mm really would be a good cutoff for what I shoot.
