I must say that I like the look of the 400mm pics way better. The 560mm ones reminds me a bit of older tele's with that a bit washes out look and I bet it's due to the the "older" telescope formula that is reminiscent of old tele lenses.

A stop more noise than the 300 f4. It's hard to say, but the shots look like they are cropped substantially, and noise kills you in that case. I was shooting today with my DA*300 and wide open I was having trouble keeping below iso 800 at a reasonable shutter speed. Close in it is ok, but at a distance where you crop, detail suffers. A 560 would mean cropping less, but higher iso. The exif would be interesting.

I know that if I had that lens, it would be used for 4-5 months of the year when the light is good. F8 and 1/1250 and iso 200-400. My older manual f4 400mm needed to be stopped down to control CA, and I was constantly frustrated by the noise or movement blur.

Who cares about DA560? Is FA*250-600/5,6 still available in China?

PS: I see they are using fluid video heads. How do these compare to a gimbal head (with big glass attached of course)?

Hi, I have the experience of using both video head Manfrotto 503hdv and Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal with K500/4.5, A*600/5.6, Pentax FA*300/2.8, Sigma 500/4.5. In brief, if you need lower shutter speed such as 1/60 sec or below, I prefer using fluid video head for stability. I would say a good fluid video head such as Sachtler (but quite expensive) is even better than gimbal.
Below is a youtube link with a 600/4 lens mounted on a Sachtler

I used the Manfrotto 503hdv with Pentax A*600/5.6 with pics as below link with no hardship of tracking. For a manual focus lens, I also prefer mounting on a good video head.

Indeed, I even tried just to mount the A*600/5.6 on a manfrotto monopod with acceptable results.

Yeah ~ I am really eager to see whether the DA560 could outperform or equal the A*600/5.6. On the other hand, I don't think it could be better than the FA*250-600/5.6 which I could still get one in HK if I want to. However, the FA*250-600/5.6 is really too expensive.
So, if the bokeh and IQ of DA560 could still match the A*600/5.6 and also without the PF issues, I would really consider to get one.

Dsport, what do you mean you can get the 250-600 in HK!? You mean used? Where, and how much?
