I would not even bring this lens along to a wedding! I agree that zooms are the more practical in most situations, but I never had one in the film era and still prefer a prime over a zoom where at all possible. That said, I have several very nice zooms but a 60-250 is not among them, unfortunately. Most likely if it were I'd not have bought this one.
No lottery here, but I borrowed from my motorcycle maintenance fund.
Well, here is to hoping that the motorcycle doesn't need maintenance anytime soon!

Zooms are more practical, but there is a certain something with a prime. That is why last year I sprang for the FA limited trio. The DA* 300 is high up on my next to buy list (along with the 15), but I keep waiting while I make a decision on the camera situation. I am really tempted to get the K5IIs so I could shoot with a full 2 camera system (instead of just keeping the K20 available as a backup). I guess I will see how I do at the next bride show...maybe if it is good enough I will be treating myself to a new camera and a new lens...

If you look closely - your Manfrotto head is there!
I used it as my secondary, clamped to my Super Clamp and adapter plate!

I was able to fill up my buffer on one camera, then pop-over to the other and do the same.

Awesome combo!

Not to steal your thunder dbh, I am as excited as you about our new DA*300's. Received mine today and only had time enough for a couple quick/dirty test shots - I think it's a keeper. Now my only problem is to decide if it is good enough to part with my FA*300 4.5.........going to wait for a decently warm day (might be months away) and do a proper shoot out between the two lenses.

But in the meantime - shot through double pane glass on a gloomy sunless day:

Isn't this place fun? So many people get excited when somebody gets a new lens!! And wish him well - and offer portraits of their brother-lenses!!

I must wholeheartedly agree. Enthusiasm is infectious; I think I caught some here; where better to share it?!

You're right, it really is an awesome thing. I appreciate it so much.

In fact, once I get my off-camera lighting rig back together (I lost my triggers during a move), I might have to post my entire family of lenses. Which will include the Mamiya 645 C 70mm f2.8 I just ordered because sometimes I want something in between 50mm and 85mm that has an aperture ring.

You are, no doubt, much fairer than I.

One day I hope to own the 300, or maybe the 60-250
Congratulations, love the pics.

Have a nice day.
