My New Addition - DA*300

After a long time of wanting this lens, I bought it yesterday. It is truly beautiful to my eyes. I can't wait to take it outside and see what it can do!
Just posting because of excitement...

*jealous*

I have the 200/2.8, and while lovely, I would - almost - kill for the 300. It's second on my list for when I win the lottery (or, something if the sort).

Thanks for the comments and shared enthusiasm! It is great that it can focus so close - opens up lots of possibilities while stuck inside. ;-)

Now that's a sexy photo of the DA*300 - you have every right to be excited!

I have one coming - due to be delivered early this coming week. I've wanted this lens for years now and finally have one on the way.

It's very nice. Sharp and quiet. The only things that I've run into are low light focus on the K-5, makes me yearn for a II version or IIs. And it is a little warm on white balance. It seems to handle whatever I throw at it and not get in the way. I'm very impressed.

I am jealous. The 60-250 is more practical for weddings, but to have a prime in the length! It is on my lottery list too.

I would not even bring this lens along to a wedding! I agree that zooms are the more practical in most situations, but I never had one in the film era and still prefer a prime over a zoom where at all possible. That said, I have several very nice zooms but a 60-250 is not among them, unfortunately. Most likely if it were I'd not have bought this one.
No lottery here, but I borrowed from my motorcycle maintenance fund.

I'd bet your 200 would work nicely with a good quality 1.4X SDM TC

I love my 300, would also love a 200, but most likely won't as long as I have the Sigma 180 f3.5 macro and my old VS-1 (Kiron) 70-210 f3.5 (manual)

Don't hate me...but...the DA*200 and DA*300 are perfect together.
They are my new favorite combo.

From the back of an auditorium last night, these two lenses ROCKED!!!

Nothing there to hate - more like love!

Now I feel better....kind of....after I receive my DA*300, I was going to take a pic of the 300, 60-250, and 50-135 together......but couldn't think of a name for the group since the "three amigos" has been used already.
