New DA 60-250 wrestling shots

I don't find this lens cumbersome at all even after using DA 55-300. It IS substantial though.....
These are a few from some wrestling tournaments last weekend.....
All are handheld and AWB.....

No noise reduction applied although there would be if I was going to do something with them.

I think the K-30 handled the AWB pretty well.....................the whites in the refs shirts look white on my monitor.

Gym lighting is difficult for sure, all coming from the top and all different.

I am just an enthusiast so nothing here exceptional...........

BTW, all shot wide open....
There is some blurring due to that and that there is some movement

Using some serious ISO here! Nice shots. Is the boy grabbing hair in the second image?

It may be inadvertant, kinda like grabbing a face mask in football...........however, there have been some cases of biting, ouch!

I found the overhead lighting to be dark on the faces........and noise showed up pretty bad.

Ok... this is crazily clean at ISO6400... what's the big deal about full-frame again???

The 2nd was ISO 8000, the 3rd 10,000

I love the K-30 and I don't even know how to use it. I have not customized one button yet, frankly, it is confusing to my feeble mind

With regards to overhead lighting, usually flash is the solution.

The ISO 10,000 images show stronger noise reduction, but are still very good and clean images.

Beth,
I don't do wrestling photography, I just engrave at many of our youth wrestling tournaments in the area. Sometimes they have 400 wrestlers.

I took my new lens along just to test it out in that environment.............all in all I would say it would serve you very well at the meets. I do not own the 50-135 but the extra reach of the 60-250 would be very handy. Of course your wrestling probably doesn't have 8-10 matches going on at once like the youth club tournaments.

I'd like to see some of your photos, maybe I could learn something..........I always tell my friends I just point and shoot!

BTW, I just read on one of the forums it is selling for $1199 right now.......

My boys used to do the youth club tournaments. they are now old enough that they do dual matches, which are so fun and instense. I'll see if I can attach a few shots.
