NZRoss, It came today, I was very busy could not test thoroughly but it seems it works with no problem. Thank goodness. When I have time I ll have a through test though.

Well maybe sharpness is not 10, but the main reason I bought was color, contrast and bokeh hoanpham as you put it.

Zeiss lenses have stunning quality - every time i use them.
It's also difficult to focus correctly. In-focus areas should be very sharp.

Looking forward to see your samples - i don't have yours.

A very good point hoanpham - it takes a while to get used to focusing the 35/2. Once you are used to it - then easy, but I remember the first couple of weeks I had mine I wasn't happy with myself, phaffed around for what seemed like forever getting focus. If this happens to you pentaxnood - be comforted it is a common enough experience..

@pentaxnood, for landscapes or outdoor shooting,
you can use hard infinity or the distance scale for hyperfocal focusing.

For static close-up photography, like with your food photography,
and the camera on a tripod, you can use live view and screen magnification,
or focus peaking when you have it.

My photos are mostly private or clients, but here are few public.

Planar 1.4/50 @f1.4:

Also recommend to install a split screen to aid manual focus.
Katzeye is very good, also eg-s type screen, but any cheaper from ebay is also ok.
It will take some time to get use to manual focus.

those are some great photos hoanpham, I especially liked 50mm. I guess 1.4s are better than my lens.

Thanks for your comment.
I won't say better. They are different lenses.

I prefer the Planar 1.4/50 in most cases.
but I switch between Pentax A50/1.2, K50/1.4, Voiglander 58/1.4 and Zuiko OM 55/1.2.

I don't have any zeiss in 35mm, but FA35/2 is a very good lens, but also older nikkor 35/1.4 ai-s, zuiko 35/2.
Don't think there is a bad 35mm f2.0 or faster.

Nikkors and zukos can swap the mount to fit pentax, or use canon with adapter.

Well I have a Zeiss 35/2, a Voigtlander 58/1.4 and a Leitax converted Leica 90/2.8 if that counts, but no Nikkors or Zuiko's. Are you using adaptors or permanent adaptors?

Already there on my Zenfolio site Zenfolio | Ross Waugh's Photographs | Leica Elmarit R 90mm

I have images grouped by lens there - for my own reference really, more than anything else. There are a few Leica 90/2.8 ones there if you follow the link
