I have the A version and I love it, but it suffers significant image degradation wide-open as well. Nevertheless it's very nice for the price, as was the FA50/1.7 (at least for what I paid for it, which was around $200 2+ yrs ago, IIRC).

I believe the F version was even more noisy than the FA version. It's been a while since I've owned them, however - has anyone else here used them more recently who can compare them?
