Computar 2.8 28mm M42 samples and thoughts...

Ok.

A few days ago a fellow Pentaxian posted this on the price watch:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-price-watch/215195-bnib-28mm-f2-8-...6-shipped.html

So I bought one for the lofty sum of $16 shipped.

It arrived today, And here are some initial thoughts and silly samples.....

It is small, like a M 50 2, All metal it seems and labeled "Japan" (if that means glass made there or the whole thing, I dont know)

Focus ring is smooth and stops click in nicely.

No Auto/Manual option so you compose wide open and then meter at your chosen aperture.

Looks like 5 blades in there.

Came packed in a white box, Styrofoam inserts. Well packed.

Next are some samples, I did not get outside yet but I will update as I shoot more.

Starting with a image of the lens itself.

(all images are straight out camera Jpegs, No PP.)

As I said, More later and hopefully other people who bought this cheap thing will show some as well.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Eric

This looks as if it might be a member of 'The Great Vivitar 28mm Bestiary' - No M22 on the list ?
See the following link:-

Great Vivitar 28mm Bestiary: Details

Very often unusual Makers names appear on lenses made by well known makers and again there was a lot of 'cross-fertilisation' amongst the Japanes lens makers.

Just a thought ?

Thanks for starting this thread Eric.
Nice shots!

Just got mine, slapped it on the K-01, and snapped a few.
I was seeing a bright view on the display even when stopped down.
Seems very sharp to me.

jpeg from the camera, no pp work.

Ya I am curious

It reminds me a bit of a Tokina lens I have.
I guess they have a pretty generic look

90 degree throw of the focus ring, so it locks on fast.
Non rotating front element.
Tomorrow I'll try it on the Q.

Pretty impressive! I didn't jump on this when I had the chance, kinda kicking myself now But I'm overstocked on 28's already, so I'm glad a lot of PF'ers were able to grab one of these.
