SMC 30mm f/2.8

Hi - new to the forum - I have an MX which I really love, and one of the lenses I have is a 30mm f2.8. Definitely has a different quality to the standard 50mm. People at various times have told me that it's 'rare' but I have no idea, I just bought it new with the camera. There doesn't seem to be much info about it via a straight google search. Can anyone tell me anything about it - is the quality meant to be good/bad, is it uncommon, etc? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Here is a link to the review of the K30/2.8, it will give you some info on the lens. The lens is more uncommon than rare.

Thanks gofour3 - I'm now a great deal better informed. I always thought it was a pretty decent lens, but I didn't realise that tests and opinions would be so positive. When I bought it (mid-70s?) I recall the magazines at the time being a little negative about it - "what's the point when there's a 28 and a 35" and so on. As a result, stores sold them for less than those other two sized lenses. That wasn't an insignificant factor in my purchase, I'll admit!

Hi there aurele - I'm not sure that your considered opinion matches up with what else I've read... I'm sure I could be persuaded though, if you have a Rickenbacker bass to swap ....
