I just received this Samyang 28-200 macro in a package deal I bought in a package deal with a Pentax film camera, Vivitar flash, and Pentax-A 50mm f 1.7, which is what I was really buying the lot to obtain. The lens appears to be very solidly constructed, with smoothly moving focus ring and zoom. It has an A setting for aperture, and goes up to f 22.0.I cannot locate a review, and hardly even a mention of the lens anywhere, and would really appreciate any information/comments anyone can offer. Meanwhile, I will be checking out the A 50 1.7.

The A 50/1.7 is great ... really like mine. Post us an image of the Samyang ... is it a K mount?

Careful of the Ricoh pin on the KR mount, it could lead to some tense moments if you haven't already removed it.

Here is another one I found listed for sale on eBay:

Samyang MC 70 210 F 4 0 5 6 Pentax KR Mount Ref 14 | eBay

I am curious about this lens because it appears to be very well constructed, and it offers some excellent image quality from my brief testing of it.

Thanks for the alert on the KR designation of Ricoh pin. I already installed the lens on K-20 with no bad outcome, but will be careful. Do you know how to remove the Ricoh pin?

This Samyang lens has the rounded Ricoh pin. Several references I have read state that the rounded Ricoh pin never gives any problem in terms of making the lens stick on the camera, and further states that because of the rounded head of the pin, it is a simple matter to slide a shim in between the camera and lens to push up the pin and facilitate removal. I have used the lens several times on my K-20 with no difficulties, so I have decided to stop worrying about the matter for the moment!

Reminds me a bit of a Kiron lens that I've seen before... the Kiron 28-210 f/4-5.6 Macro.

Looks close, but not quite.

Interesting. Yes, they do look similar. Slight change in focal length may have been the mfgr's effort to make the lenses appear different. I do not know whether Kiron is one of the names used to rebadge Samyang products. Anyway, it is a pretty good lens, and very sturdily made.
