Looks like they may be a gamble.

Check here: Bizrate review of SigmaForLess

They look to be very new and the two reviews on there are not so positive.

Oh well, I won't take a chance on them. I usually check to see if a co. is a member of the BBB and the are not so i'll follow my instinct and shop somewhere else.

The only thing I've bought from them is an OEM lens hood for my 70-200. I had no problems. The one thing they do not make clear is if an item is a US stock item, or a gray market item. I'd be hesitant to buy an expensive lens from them without assurances first.

Just a quick question, but what's the difference between the gray market lenses and the US lenses
If you only say Warranty, I'll point out that Sigma lenses sold in Canada have a longer warranty.
And the distributer, Gentec is really good with their after the sale service.
My Sigma 135 - 400 has a 5 year warranty, and my Sigma 24 - 70 f2.8 has a 10 year.

Considering every manufacturers present lens QC I'd still want them to do a couple of quick test shots, and e-mail them to me. Before I'd buy anything I get through the mail. And if it's NFG try the next one.
This only takes the store a few minutes, and can save everyone a big headache later.

Warranty is basically it. You may end up with paper work in a foreign language.

I understand the need to protect lines of distribution, but in todays global retail market, I think companies that (in all markets) need to rethink their distribution strategies.

I have bought multiple items from Sigma 4 Less, as they came highly recommended by other photographers. I did have a problem with one order, but they took care of it very promptly. I have no problem recommending them.

I have only ordered once from them. Had no problems what so ever. Keep them in my bookmarks for price checking.

If you were the owner of an on-line store you would be pissed of by being called a "gamble".

It's the bizrate website that only shows ratings for the last 90 days. They've been online for at least 2 years from reviews (website says 2004-2008), and I've heard recommendations for them often. You can see they don't have bad ratings in any of the other review sites.

Also they clearly state on their catalogue which items are gray market/imported and which ones have USA warranty. It's certainly not a gamble.

You cant really "trust" the 2 people on bizrate. Not because they are untrust worthy reviews but because theresonly two of them... I would rather go with resellerratings.com's 100+ reviews with a lifetime of 8.7\10. I know friends who have dealt with them and had no problems at all. Heck their rating (with a lot less reviews) is higher than Adorama!
So in other words yes they are quite reliable. (IMHO)

Thanks

The BBB is silly - either to be a member or to complain to them.

I bought a lens from Sigma4Less with no problem as have others.
