50-200mm lens issues?

2 other members made reference to 'bad copies' of this lens. Are there common problems with it? Can anyone elaborate ?

There are probably a bad copy or two floating around, but the majority are pretty good. I've been really pleased with mine.

.

I used to own one up until last month, and I loved it. For the price, very good performer.

I have one that is a very good copy. I reach for it more often than I do my tamron 70-300... Smaller/ lighter and consistantly good shots. For the money it is a very good deal.

If you do buy a 'bad copy' lens won't pentax replace it if under warranty?

Haven't heard about the "bad copies" but I have a good copy. A great lens for the price.

This month's Outdoor Photographer has a pro who loves it, so it cannot be a bad lens! They have a medium zoom article.

thanks everyone who replied. I feel reassured and am buying a new but 'open box' from a very reputable dealer for $140 CAN, good deal I think.

I dunno, I've never worked with them. If you're worried about it you could by it from a local dealer (If possible) and then return/exchange it if it's bad. I bought mine used and havn't had any problems. I wouldn't worry about it.
