Hood for SMC A 28mm F2.8

I recently purchased the smc a 28mm f2.8 lens and I need to get a lens hood for it. I want to get a metal lens hood of ebay, but I'm not sure which one to get to avoid a vignette but still do the job.

Your advice on these two options or any other option would be most appreciated.

Any 49mm screw on lens hood should do the job, even a tele won't produce any significant vignetting on APS-C.

Go for a hood intended for a 50mm. I think that will do, a tele hood might give you some vignetting IMHO.

I know a 1"/25mm deep hood with 49mm threads and a 58mm opening works, because I've been using that all month on the F version, same optical design. The old ones that I have are labeled for 50mm or a standard lens. They work with my 58mm caps so I can cap the hood, still a compact package. It looks like you could go another half inch/12mm before any vignetting. The hood meant for the Takumar 135mm f3.5 is just a little too deep.

After taking a look on a pure white backdrop, this hood is just slightly too long.

49mm Tele Metal Lens Hood for Canon Nikon Sony Olympus Z001 | eBay

There is very slight vignetting at minimum focus and more noticeable vignetting at infinity. The hood itself is just longer than the built in hood on the A135/2.8

What type of camera? If you are shooting with a Pentax dSLR (APS-C sized sensor), this one should work fine:

If you are shooting 35mm film, this will work:

I use the Pentax MH-RA 49mm lens hood on my A 28 2.0. It's the dedicated hood of the FA 43 1.9. On APS-C, there is some vignetting even without the hood. With the hood on, the vignetting looks about the same. So I guess the hood is perfect on APS-C. The hood is aluminum with felt inner padding. Really good build. Looks like they're made for each other. Wish I had a cap to go with it.
