Hi,

I am also thinking about replacing the Kit zoom... and are looking at the 16-45, 17-70 and 18-50, one dissadvantage for the 16-45 that I am concerned about is that it is fully extended at 16, which limit the use of the internal flash... what I have heard is that the flash will be shadowed by the lens.... any one who can confirm this?

BR Jan
Yes, but a quality flash shot at 16mm, shadow or not, with on-board flash is low probability anyway as the edges will be darker due to the relatively large difference in camera-subject distance. Get an external flash perhaps, which will improve all your flash photography.

+1 to this ^ statement.

Nice shots, Palmor and Calicojack.

Good luck with whichever lens you choose, Stacy.

'm very pleased with my Pentax 16-45. I got it for an Xmas present from my wife. I love the wide skies, landscapes, wide angle aspect. I'm happy with it. I had it out today, attached to my K10D in -25 windchill. Functioned perfectly.

In case you were wondering with those cold winter temps....yes, I'm in Canada.

I ended up getting the sigma 17-35 f2.8-4 and went shooting last night. It's quite a bit heavier and larger than the kit lens, but I'm liking the results a lot. I think it's on Amazon for around 170 plus shipping.
