Should I sell DA*55mm 1.4 and get a DA 50mm 1.8?

Yes I need some $ but would still love to have a good prime .. I have also got the 35mm 2.4 but obviously the DA*55 1.4 produces higher quality images.

Should I sell the DA* 55 and get a DA 50mm 1.8? Does the DA50mm 1.8 have better image results than the 35mm 2.4 or about the same?

The DA 50 f1.8 is a nice lens but the DA*55 f1.4 is really head a shoulders above it as far as image quality goes. I'd vote for no sale!

Absolutely not. The DA* is leagues ahead of the 50/1.8. The 50 is nice, but you'd lose so much in terms of both build and image quality.

I'm just wondering; how was you experience with both of the lens? have you ever owned them? and if you did why did you sell them? I'm just very curious cause I want to get the DA 55 1.4. Thanks (:!

Another vote for no sell.
The 55 deserves the * it carries in it's name tag. Although I did have some issues with it in specific situations, it gave me a lot of memorable pictures. The only 3 lenses in Pentax I'd consider trading DA*55 for (if I still shot Pentax) would be FA43Ltd (first silver series), K50/1.2 and A50/1.2.

People are commenting on the difference in IQ, and most photographers will agree. However, we must not ignore that you are in ned of cash. So with that in mind, the answer is more complicated. How much do you need that money? What do you do with your 55 and will you be able to do it with a cheaper (but still good) 50? Only you can answer these questions, but in short, if you really need the cash and can live with a good but inferior lens, then sell it. Otherwise, keep it

The way I see it, if you never use a lens, even if it's a great lens, then sell it. If you do use it though, don't sell it to get a cheaper, less qualified version of the same lens. That means you will be losing money twice (once for selling the lens cheaper than what you bought it, and again for buying another lens) and also losing capability.
