Another 31mm WOW post.

I just got my new to me 31mm (silver) from Albert Siegel. Wow do I like this lens. Of course it's snowing here so I had to shoot the typical test subject. Colour like I have never seen before and an image with nice bokeh/depth. Sharp as well. This is easily as nice, if not nicer than the A*85mm f1.4 I had earlier. Thanks Albert, this lens is a true keeper!

Just a test shot with new 31mm 1/80th, f3.2 ISO 200 Pretty limited DOF but I didn't want to fire the flash to test this.

100% crop

Beautiful.

Having blown my entire 2008 lens budget less than 60 days into the new year, I'm going to have to endure shots like this for another 10 months. Thanks for rubbing it in, Pete.

A little hesitant to be off-topic but got to give your 31 a bit of competition

Deep blue sky produced by my DA21 (no special filter was used).

That 21mm looks sweet. nice shot and great colour.

The 31 with the K20D is awesome. Looks like a winning combo. Both lenses are great without question. The 21mm is on the list but that will take some saving after this one.

Peter, welcome to join the league. Fa 31 ltd is a very versatile lens with predictable performance. I am getting my k20d today and use it tomorrow for events! Cannot wait.

Fa 31 ltd always manages to produce a very interesting image different from what I saw - in a good way. It picks up too much information sometime...

Thanks James. I had a little time to try it out more today and it's everything that many have said. Now that's it for lenses for awhile, I hear the K20D's are available in Halifax now so.....

Your 31st gallery post is your 31mm test shot Looks very nice, as I have come to appreciate myself with the 31. It was my first lens and is still my 'go to' lens as a default choice. The focal length being 'normal' by K10 standards renders the 31 ltd as a great general purpose lens. I use it for all my indoor/low light shooting, especially when motion is involved. Fast 50s on APS-C are a little restrictive when it comes to shooting a night out with a group of friends for example, the 31 becomes the new standard.

You guys are bad ...

If I keep visiting this forum, there is absolutely no cure for LBA thoughts. Just when I manage to come up with all manual lens to fight the thoughts of limited lens, that silly idea in my head just vaporizes seconds after seeing the pictures.

Congratulation on the new lens.

I wish Pentax can have the FA 28mm f/2.8 back in production so that people on low budget like me can go for the cheaper route with a good AF 28mm.

Hin. there is a good choice out there and at a reasonable price. The FA35 f2 is a great lens and I had it before the sell off. But I'd seen and heard so much about this lens, the deal from Albert was too good to pass up. The silver colour on the body looks a little odd but it's a great lens. Just wish the hood was removable. Guess I'll have to get 4 black cheap filters to give it a bit better protection (remove the glass. My 58mm Tak hood can go on but it slightly vignettes. I might take a grinder to it and remove 6-7mm.

That's funny Pirate. i never noticed that it was the 31st gallery post. Serendipity?

Sweet pic's Peter, I wasn't looking for anything in that range owning a sweet 28mm, and a nice 35mm. But it's suddenly on my list

Congrats on your new camera James.
I know that you'll love it, and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures.

They weren't in BC yesterday, but I sure hope that they arrive soon.
I won't be buying one this year unless I win the lotto, however I've been asked to help out with a shootout with one against the Sigma SD14 and possibly a Nikon ?.
I'm looking forward to it, and will of course post the results.

Just in case you're ready to yield to the temptation...

...to pick up a 31, there's one currently on the marketplace for sale that it's owner would love nothing more than to get rid of for $750. I bought my K10 from this seller and he's the real deal--I had no problems with him.

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/photographer-s-marketplace/21400-fs-fa-31...0-shipped.html

If I had $750 sitting around to blow, I might would pick this one up myself.

Heather (who wishes she could afford a 31) :ugh:
