Pentax F-DA 100 mm f2.8 vs Pentax SMC FA-100mm

Hi all,
I bought a Pentax F-DA 100 mm f2.8 but some say the older version Pentax SMC FA-100mm is sharper.Which one is better?Do you have any experience ?
I did not buy WR version because it has no aperture ring and I'd like to use the macro lens on a film SLR too. What about the WR version? Is it better than the one I bought?
Thanks in advance...

I think those lenses are optically the same (F, FA, and both DFA have the same glass element layout), the only difference might be the materials, coatings, aperture blade shape. And lens hood, I guess. I wouldn't worry about the others being "sharper." The more important differences are, as you mentioned, the aperture ring, focus throw, AF limiter,.. so I think you got the right lens for your usage. Have you tried it yet? I doubt you will find it "not sharp enough." Just make sure the DoF and lighting are good and you'll be golden

I have used quite a number of macro lenses and I must say most of them are sharp, if not very sharp. Very rarely that I get a macro lens that is not sharp. Now I am using the FA 100mm 2.8 but I have seen some good shots from the DFA too.

Example from my FA.
