My most useful lenses are far from my best - my 18-55 kit lens, or my cheapy Sigma/Quantaray 28-90. When I need to grab some quick outdoor shots or family-outing stuff, those are my go-to's.

Most used and most useful by far is the DA 18-135.
Coming in distant but necessary second/third is the Sigma 10-20 and DAL 55-300.
For fun and for specific purposes are the Tamron 90, Pentax F 35-70, and Pentax A 50 1.7.

When I first read the question, I thought I'd be stumped (I've got a bunch of lenses) but after a minute of thought I knew it had to be the Sigma 100-300/4. It gets me portraits and (with a TC) birds and all the zany stuff in between. I wouldn't say it's my favorite but, thankfully, that's not the question.

For me, it's my DA 35mm Macro Limited since I bought it. Maybe because it's so versatile, maybe because of the build quality or maybe just because it`s the lens with the best IQ I own .

The OP asked about our most useful lens, which may or may not equate to the most used lens.

My most useful lens is probably my F 35-70. Fast focusing, sharp, has a 'macro' (I prefer to call it closer focus) mode. However, my most used lens is probably the kit DA L 18-55.

However much I want to be a 'serious' photographer, I still take my share of typical family snapshots to record life's events for the photo album as opposed to hanging on a gallery wall. I find the 18-55 - especially in the sub-30mm range works well for this kind of use.

According to Aperture my most used lens is the infamous "Unknown Lens". Thankfully I've being slowly migrating my portfolio to Lightroom, which tells me it's actually the Sigma 17-70 DC Macro.

All primes equally.
All zooms: DA*, Adaptall-2 70-150/2.8 soft
Most useful: the one mounting on the camera at that moment...

Pentax DA 12-24mm closely followed by the DA* 300mm. Ultra-wide or Telephoto for me!

Lately I've been using my Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 the most.
