That's a very tasteful cinder block, Johnathan
I love those shots, both yours and Steven's. I've decided to go for this lens. I spotted one (a MF) for $75 today, and grabbed it up. It comes with the original hood, but I've read it's not that effective, so I got one of those collapsible rubber things for a couple bucks. I have a few Ø52 lenses that could use one of those, anyway. If I'm going to spend the big bucks, I'll get a really good 2.8 zoom, either the Sigma or Tamron 17-50 mentioned here. I don't think it's worth spending big money on another fast prime so close to the 30mm f/1.4 I already have.
Does anybody know about the different focus ring grips on these lenses? There seem to be two versions: one is a rectangular checker pattern, while the other is the similar, but slanted. Look:
Note: these are not my pictures. The first is from the
Marketplace, the other is from
Flickr.
They seem to be identical in every other way. They're both definitely Sigma Super Wide II's. The one I got is like the first picture, with the perpendicular checks. Anybody have a clue?
