Sigma 24-70 non HSM

How many versions are there of this lens?
At least two, with HSM and without.

I have the opportunity of getting one non-HSM used at 300 euros or $400. Is it worth that?
I will test it on my K30 at the brick-and-mortar shop where it is reserved for me.
Anything special that I should beware of? Have anyone experienced problems with new bodies and old sigmas?
I do have the Sigma EX15-30 mounted on my K30 and that one is just perfect.

If you like the 15-30 you will like the 24-70 EX DG too. It's older design but quite good. Sharp and well build. Flare and contrast may be a bit of an issue (especcially compared to SMC glass, but again, it won't be worse than the 15-30). I alwas wanted it when I was shooting Pentax but ended with FA*28-70 instead. Tried it in EOS mount and went for the 24-70 L in the end. Sharpness of the Sigma compares quite well to these two top lenses but oerall image look and quality was better with the first party options, and I like the hood arrangement of the FA* and L MkI. Also the AF seemed bit less sure footed than on 1st party glass (even when on the same body).

Would pay 300. Perhaps not. Is it worth that money? Probably, especially if in good shape and with case and hood.

It has case but no hood. I could get the Sigma hood new for 30 euros.
Is there another longer hood available?

I had the 24-70 EX DG Macro (not the HSM version). I think there was also a non macro version, and possibly a non DG version.

Mine was fine with the stock hood but would start to vignette in the corners even on a crop sensor with anything more than a millimeter or two longer in the corners of the hood. Overall I liked the lens but it does have a tendency towards strong veiling flare if you are shooting across a bright light source like the sun, which makes the hood fairly important. One of those print your own hood websites does have a template for a paper hood with slightly longer top and side wings for use on APS-C sensors.

And I have one: see it here. I agree with many of the comments - hefty and slightly awkward but all is forgiven for its IQ, which is superb. Here is an example with it at f3.5 and 70mm.
I make it at least 3 iterations of this lens from Sigma - but maybe there are more?
