Help on using leica lens on pentax k-r

I just got a leica summar 50/2. I want to use it on my pentax k-r. Please suggest a suitable adapter with infinity focus capability. It'd be great to suggest me, where to get the adapter. I found few adapters in eBay, but they're incapable of infinity focus. Any help on this highly appreciate.
Thanks in advance,

You would need an optical adapter to get infinity focus,
because the mount of the K-r is too far from its sensor
for the Summar to get infinity focus there.

But optical adapters are not recommended,
they'd spoil the IQ of the Leica lens.

There are some great Pentax lenses you can use instead,
like the M50/1.4 or M50/1.7.

That's disappointing! I got already M50/1.7/1.4 but want to try leica because of its reputation. Anyway, thanks for your quick response.
Can I use M42 and M39 adapters together to serve the purpose get it done?
Regards,

An M42 adaptor and an M39 adapter will let you use the lens for macro and close focus photos; that's how I use my M39 enlarger lenses on SLRs. You may be able to focus on objects up to a few feet away.

I'm not very familiar with the mechanics of collapsible Leica lenses. If you can use it partially collapsed that may allow focus at greater distances, with a substantial risk of running the rear of the lens into the camera's mirror and damaging both.

Generally mirrorless bodies like the Sony NEX series, Ricoh GXR with M mount or the Fuji bodies with M mount adapters are recommended for use with Leica lenses. I would be interested in playing around with a collapsible lens on my K-01 (no mirror in the way) but can't justify the cost of the lenses.

Actually, the K-01 doesn't have that much free room inside.
There's an internal hood coning out from the APS-C frame.

thanks for the suggestions. Can I use any other leica lenses without these problems? If available, I'll sell this lens and go for that lens. Can anybody suggest how much this lens worth?
Thanks,

Works...!
Adapter will not work BUT go to LEITAX.com and find a mount replacement.. This is the real solution, probably more expensive than you thought, but it works fairly well.

Just gone through the list of adapters in Leitax.com. But again which one to chose for my requirement?

After reading through this thread, it's not all gloom and doom, you could always get a Leica to put the Leica lens on

The only conversions for Pentax DSLRs I see there are the "R" reflex lenses.
This is on the Leitax "Leica for Pentax" page.

This is correct. The Leitax conversion for Leica R is pretty well known and popular. A conversion for Leica M or M39 LTM is simply not feasible (~28mm vs. 45.5mm registration).

mounts.htm

Leica has 47.00 mm distance while Pentax 45.46, so there should be some room for an adapter...
