67 120mm soft lens use

Hello all,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with details on the use of the 67 120mm soft lens.
I bought one second-hand but it did not have the manual.
I found and downloaded one, however it is a quite bad photocopy and the details on the illustrations are not clear.
I specifically need to know how the additional focus marks are used, (either side of the prime focus point.)
Thanks in advance.

The aperture ring controls the degree of softness wide open (at F4), the lens will be very soft, and as you approach F22, it'll feel more and more like an ordinary lens.

Do they not denote the levels of softness that will be applied?

I have this lens and the original manual.

Here is the "how to focus" choices:

2-1
There are three index marks, the one to the right is the aperture soft focus setting you chose.

The middle index is "To obtain a soft-focus image with a large subject's core and less flare around it."

The index to the far left is "To obtain a soft-focus image with a small subject's core and more flare around it."

2-2
Or, focus with the aperture set to f/11 and set the lens to provide the soft-focus degree you desire.

Hope this helps,

Phil.
