About the 8mm, I've read you have to cut the hood on FF otherwise it's vignetting (at least the canikon versions).

It is still vigneting even without the hood but less.

I'm guessing there will be a general rise in prices when/if Pentax gives us a FF. But prices have been rising for many years and I doubt it will be a dramatic change.

Anyhow, both the K28 and K35 f/3.5 are relatively cheep and spectacularly good lenses. I hardly ever use the K35 on digital, but with film it is wonderful for street photography.

As the Zenitar 16mm FE has been mentioned I must bring the attention to a far less known FE. The Sigma 16mm f/2.8 filtermatic. I have tested the two side by side and the Sigma won on all accounts. And, at least last time I checked, for about the same price as the Zenitar.

Another lens that might become desirable is the M28/2.8, it is in no way a spectacular lens, but also not at all bad. Small and quite fast.

I'm sure glad I bought my F 35-70 a few months ago before this thread got started! I don't know how much longer it will be a 'sleeper'.

I bought mine because I needed a fairly sharp 70mm lens with its own diaphragm control, and this was an inexpensive option. I can copy 24mmX36mm slides to APS-C using the K Bellows and slide copier, a 70mm lens and my K-r. Well, I am finding it serving a lot more uses on my K-r than copying slides - - that it is also FF capable is icing on the cake.

I'm sitting comfortably in FF lurk mode with the Sigma 15 fisheye, SMC-As 24/2.8 and 50/1.7 plus Rikenons 28/2.8 and 70-150mm f/4. And if the Limited 40 and 70 work as well as others have shown, so much the better! If I feel I need more, the SMC-M 200mm f/4 is still mighty cheap in a relative sense.

I vote for the two Voigtlanders in my profile. 58/1.4 in particular, as it can be used as a portrait lens on crop and normal on FF.

Someone has already mentioned the Tokina version of the Bokina, but I'll menion the Vivitar 90mm f2.5 version as well. To me, other 'sleepers' are the Pentax M50/1.7 (great IQ, very cheep); SMC Takumar 50/1.4 (again great IQ, rendering, and build. Still not that expensive); any of the Pentax 50mm f4 macros (fantastic sharpness, very compact, cheep compared to almost any other macro, which the meet or exceed in IQ); Pentax M or A 35/2; Pentax M120/2.8 (I love this one; sharp, low CA, very compact; it's rare enough that there aren't as many glowing reports of the lens as there would otherwise be, and so it is still quite cheap).

In my nikon lens collection the one sleeper lens I had that turned out to be a great combination with my FX format D3 was a 44 year old pre-AI 105mm 5 elements 3 groups sonnar design. Simply brilliant for High key portraiture to give that classic 1960's look - as I have mentioned before I think a great number of pentax lenses in that focal length range of 85-135mm are going to have a bit of a revival of interest when the pentax FX format DSLR is released..

I have 2 that i would like to try A 35-105 3.5 and the A 135 2.8. And i think that the F35-70 would be good all so I have 4 of them just because they are so cheap. For me it is one of the best deals out there

Just curious...what's so special about the ATX 28-70 f/2.6-2.8?

I have the lens, and I like it (nice FL range, decent sharpness when stopped down, nice bokeh, and specially build quality), but so far I haven't found the "magical Angineoux pixie dust" quality that people say.

I will admit, the qualtiy is not as shockingly good as the Bokina, but the colors are vivid, bokeh is awesome, sharpness is in my opinion very nice, and AF speed is excellent. And until recently all that could be had at a very compelling price. I tried the Tamron 28-75 that people rave about, but actually found it quite boring, albeit technically very good. I find a certain character to the Tokina that makes it my top choice for a normal zoom. Is that enough to call it "Angenieux Pixie Dust?" Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in my eyes, it qualifies, if barely. If pentax made a version of this (with Tokina's help) with HD coating, WR and QS for a more advanced FF kit lens replacement, I'd be all over it, even if it wasn't cheap.

Samyang 8mm FE

The Samyang 8mm is full frame, but it will vignette due to the built in hood. To what degree, I am not sure. It might be cropable.

I'm kind of glad I held on to all my old A, M and K series glass at this point.

I was about to dump a lot of them but perhaps they will enjoy a renaissance in FF.
