Just got my DA 16-50 back from the Pentax Service Center. I had sent it in because it appeared to be decentered, and had a focussing problem / not sharp at all.
Turn-around was about two weeks, and my original lens was not returned, but was replaced. The old serial number was 9011xxx, the new one is 9012xxx.
The new lens is sharp! I took some shots wide open at 16mm and it's WAY better than the first one. Yes!

I sure hope that Pentax's issues with this lens are over.

I REALLY hope the QA issues with the 16-50 are resolved. I want to replace my kit lens, and the 16-50 is my first choice. But with all the reports of fuzzy focus I have been hesitent to go with this lens. I fell that if I am dropping a thousand bucks on a lens, I should not have to QA the lens myself.

Fingers crossed. Now to find the thousand bucks...

It's a great lens once you get a good copy. It took me 4 different lenses before I got one that was a keeper. I have used it a bunch this past week on my new K20D and the results are great.
