I own both the DA*300, and DA*50-135, and find that a quite useful combo. I've used those two together many times for my sons' rowing regattas. (And now that I own two bodies, it'll work out even better.) I owned the Tamron 70-200 at the same time, but found it wasn't really necessary between those other two; the "gap" really hasn't been a problem. The 60-250 did sound like a viable alternative as a single-lens replacement for the 300 and 50-135, but I wasn't too keen on the "focus breathing" (is that the term?) of the 60-250. Plus the 300 handles quite nicely for its focal length, and it has an excellent minimum focus distance which is very useful as well.

I have both the 60-250 and the 300mm. Both are great lenses, but in normal circumstances I prefer the versatility of the zoom. I honestly can't tell the difference between the IQ at the sizes I print: both are spectacularly sharp. You won't be disappointed with either of them.

I need help. I cannot decide whether I want get the da 300mm or 60-250 zoom.
Both are by reputation fantastic lenses but if you had to choose between them what would you go for??
Personally I like the flexibility of a zoom but will I get a better IQ from the prime 300????
And they are about the same price.
What does everyone think???????
Cheers in advance for feedback because I really need to be swayed either way. (Yes I am weak)
I just purchased the 60-250 and so far am very happy with it. I don't have, or ever used, the DA 300 so I can't speak to any differences of the two as far as IQ. I was considering both and realized I wanted a more versatile lens so I can use the 60-250 for portraits and even some indoor shots.
