I feel so inadequate

I went to the Barry Sheene Festival of Speed The Barry Sheene Festival of Speed | Official Website at the Eastern Creek raceway (Sydney, Aus) today to take some pics of classic motor bike racing. I had been taking pics with my K-7 and DA* 60-250mm at the final turn before the main straight.

I now feel so inadequate. This bloke turned up so I had to sneak away and hide my little DA* 60-250 F4 lens.

Nah, you should not feel inadequate ... there's always someone with more and/or better, but doesn't mean that (s)he could shoot straight and get a good capture !

Yeah, topnotch gear is nice but a good picture still is 90% courtesy of the person behind the VF.
It`s about what you can do with your gear at that time and enjoy doing it, do not bother yourself what someone else could do with his gear. Remember, even if he/she has better gear or skills there was a time when that person was in the same position as you. We all have to learn, don`t we?

Haha, reminds me of the other day when I was walking around a city, taking some snapshots from a hill, when I notice a guy walking up next to me with a huge rig, two DSLRs with massive lenses and some sort of chest harness. And I was using a K-01 with a manual lens! Oh well, thats life for ya

Don't feel inadequate. Your DA 60-250 is a fine piece of glass. I shoot flat track and ice racing often. This past ice season, I used a K300/4 with my K10D. The riders all love the shots and the event sponsoring club has a link to my online album on their website. There are always a few pro photographers with expensive gear and they are usually shooting with the intent of selling their shots. I shoot right along side and enjoy listening to them cuss up a storm when their AF ceases to function once the snow and ice starts to fly.

Remember size doesn't matter! I was shooting with two of my friends few months ago. I shoot with k-5 and they had Canon 7d with grip and Nikon d3. My k-5 looked like a toy

Because of the weight of the lens, mounting the camera to the monopod with that lens on it would probably damage the lens mount on the camera over time.

I went full Gimbal a few months ago.
I still love my Monopod when I need a good stick to hold/wrap my hands around...and keep my favorite lens-up.

Actually, I think Lauren was referring to the missing head of some sort. In this photographer's situation, he is probably only shooting at a relatively flat angle so, no real need for adjustment. I have a pan-and-tilt head on mine that rarely gets adjusted.
