Thank you all for replies. I am using a light box and the boots and accessories are very detailed with the embroidery, stus and inlays. So I need that 'macro effect' of showing a good quality zooms on the web of the artwork. This is so far what I have been getting. I am sure that my camera settings also might not be quite right for this.

How about the Tamron 90?

It's fairly inexpensive with nice sharpness across the frame. I have the 90 and the limited 35, for indoors work I like the 90 a lot more because of the working distance, I get more space to set up (lights, backgrounds, and stuff).
