16-45? it's cheap. then you can see which of those focal lengths work better for you.
Not a bad idea.. but I can get the Tamron 17-50mm cheaper than the Pentax 16-45mm both new. Its 1mm different but its faster.

Tamron 17-50mm have seen for ~ 230
Pentax 16-45mm have seen for ~ 320

Pentaxian's Lens line-up is incomplete without a FA 31
I have 3 limiteds but still dreaming of owning a FA 31, even though I am not sure I need that!!

Must resist...

Seen a good deal on the K-30 + 18-135mm (total 700 ) very good price for over here - which is really tempting regardless of what happens soon with new models.. I can't see the K-30 going for much less than 350 any time soon and 350 for the 18-135mm is a good price.. yes it still leaves me to solve the wide end at some point

The 31mm FA is also damn tempting.. again not solving my wide though

The 14mm Samyang .. that moustache distortion is what puts me off... otherwise it seems like a no brainer as it would perhaps be good for startails and the like which is an interest

Finally made a decision and went for DA 15mm the K-7 gets a stay of execution it seems

After selling the 50-200mm WR and receiving the 15mm I will have

K-7
15mm DA
18-55mm WR
35mm FA f2
100mm WR
55-300mm DA

Now, uh just need to replace that 18-55mm wr range it will never end

The K-30 is a nasty LBA enabler. That focus peaking makes those difficult to use old MF lenses so much easier. I've found new life with my old collection of paperweights. I mean glass.

EDIT: FWIW, I managed to nip my UWA LBA by buying a Sigma 10-20mm with part of my tax refund. Right now I'm actually in the surreal state of not wanting to buy any old piece of glass coming down the pike, but rather have gone into 'lion in the grass' mode. My acquisition of a 50mm M 1.4 now has me wanting faster stuff, so I'm biding my time for taxes when I plan to get the 55 1.4, the 85 1.4 and/or something fastish around the 35mm range (unsure as to what yet).

If I see something I don't have pop up in the meanwhile within my budget though all bets are off. I'm looking at YOU 300mm prime.

Yeah the new sensor will surely effectively upgrade each lens in a sense. But I thought "well, I have no wide angle" - so I have no wide angle to be upgraded so to speak. Its been awhile since I acquired a lens, that lens was the 35mm FA and it barely left the camera - as in good light/daylight the quality of the image and rendition of colours is obvious. I'm hoping the 15mm will have a similar impact..

It might be quite awhile before I can afford a K-30/K-5/K-5ii second hand or new. I think getting the glass will pay off though.
