Not bad
You are my hero

I have the F43 and just can't seem to take it off my camera. I'm thinking the DA 18-135 is going bye bye to be replaced by another Prime. Ahhh but which one to choose......

I performed a bag reshuffle in a the last few weeks and I know my glass have improved but AVG still the same.

K135 f/2.5 - 9.31 (new)
A50 f/1.2 - 9.43
FA31 f/1.8 - 9.47
FA43 f/1.9 - 9.57
FA77 f/1.8 - 9.79
Carl Zeiss T* 2/50 Planar-Makro - 9.67 (new)
Voigtlander 90mm f/3.5 APO Lanthar - 9.89 (new)

Average still at 9.59 but my new (value for money / favourite shots returned) leader = K135 f/2.5

I thought this thread was asking how well my camera bag was rated. I'll give it at least a 75. It has a good beat and easy to dance to.

Like Jean, I don't pay attention to the ratings. I haven't really put on many of my old lenses on the K30 yet.

This Is Fun! Or It Should Be...

I think that this is an interesting way to evaluate your glass collection, especially if it isn't taken too seriously. As many posters have noted, it's not the rating, it's the results.
Still, the ratings have some value and let's face it, when 40 (or more) dedicated Pentaxians agree that the that the M50 f/1.7 is a 9.33 compared to a 9.14 for the M50 f/1.4, hey, it's got some meaning. Especially considering the price difference. I own both, and the f/1.4 is a real bear to focus, even with a Katzeye screen and rubber eyecup. The f/1.7 is more well-behaved in that regard.
Anyway, my all-Pentax average is a measly 8.40, which includes many M's, a sprinkling of A's, F's, FA's and DA's.
But, the 'fast glass' I take to concerts and other low-light events, rates much higher. The Kiron 28mm f/2 is a 9.0, the aforementioned M50 f/1.7 is a 9.33, M85 f/2 a 9.13 and the A135mm f/2.8 scores an 8.94. Average? 9.10, a decent but not overwhelming number. Best thing (in addition to the fact they're all small and fairly light) is that they are all MF, which makes switching from digital to film bodies much easier. I'm not overly impressed with the MF function of most AF lenses.
So, the ratings and averages aren't life or death, just a fun comparison.
Ron

On a scale from 1 to 10, my bag averages a solid 11: the lenses I have with me are always the best for the shot, given the alternative of not getting a picture.

Besides, I've long come to terms with the fact that in all the equipment involved in making a shot, it's I who am the limiting factor...come to think of it, I hope that the content of my camera bag isn't busy rating me....

Turning the tables and if our gear could rate us ... now that would be a hoot ! J

PS - My bag rating has gone UP since its inclusion of the FA 77/1.8 Limited ...

I just cruised through the lens reviews and using the posted current averages for my 12 Pentax labeled lenses, I'm averaging out to 8.61. Some of my lenses had ratings that I think would be better that dragged it down, like the original 18-55 kit and the K300/4 which get poor ratings because it doesn't have a tripod mount, despite it's excellent optics.

I can't tell you yet, I'm still playing with the Helios...
I'll post some shots in the forums when I get to it but between the Helios and the Tokina it seems a little ordinary right now.

Averaging out the lenses listed in my signature gives me 9.34, but strictly speaking they don't all fit in one bag. Three of my lenses get a 10 rating, but the average is pulled down by a couple of Sigmas and the Zenitar. But honestly, I try not to put too much stock in the lens ratings on this forum. I don't find the system terribly objective, the results are easily skewed by an overzealous or disgruntled owner. But it was fun to play.

DA 12-24mm f4 - 9.22
DA 35mm f2.8 - 9.19
FA 20-35 f4 - 9.25
F 35-70mm f4 - 8.71
F 50mm f1.7 - 9.20
TAMRON 17-50 Di2 f2.8 - 8.69
TAMRON 70-200 f2.8 - 9.14

Average = 9.06

My averaging of my lenses...all Pentax, except for my Sigma 150-500 :

-12-24- 9.9....this is one fabulous lens...just wish it was an F 2.8 rather than an F 4
-16-45 -9.4....very good...but comparison shots with the 12-24...it is not at the same level
-18-55 Kit lens...7.5...soft, never use as a result
-50 F 2.8 Macro- 9.7....very sharp
-50 F1.4....9.8....very sharp....and fast
-55-300 9.8....very sharp...excellent for a consumer lens
-70 Ltd. F 2.4...9.9...very sharp...wish it was an F 1.8
-40mm Ltd...F 2.8...9.9...very sharp...wish if was an F 1.8...
-Sigma 150-500...9.8....surprised me how sharp this big, heavy lens is...first Sigma...I'm impressed

I've rated most of them very high....but I do so, because with the exception of the 18-55 my lenses are sharp...excellent lenses.

Let's see, I don't have a huge kit, but here it goes:

Takumar 17 FE - 8.71
DAL 18-55 - 7.61
DA 40 Limited - 9.64
DA* 55 - 9.09
Tamron 90 - 9.26
Tamron 70-200 - 9.14
Tamron 70-300 - 7.31

8.86 average
Now I just have to get rid of the 18-55 DAL and Tammy 70-300, they make the rest of the kit look bad.

OK, now post a "satisfaction rating" for that bag relative to the technical rating.

The problem with LBA is the old quote about happiness being "wantin' what you have" vs. "havin' what you want" just doesn't apply.
