The photos do seem kind of odd. Can this be checked with the serial number?

They DO warn of dust in the front element. I wonder where it came from?...

I don't know too much about the M42 lenses...but it looks like the zebra is an early version, right?
The listing in the lens reviews indicate it was an Auto Takumar circa 1958, where as the eBay item is a later model Super-Multi-Coated Takumar circa 1971?
Certainly doesn't look or seem quite right...
Cheers
Dean

Almost all of his lenses are polished. Not digging what he did to this particular Pentax lens but silver Industar and Helios lenses look pretty good polished.

It's the repeated part about "imperfections that look like dust or scratchers on front optical block" for every polished lens that make me concerned about how they ended up so polished? Sandblasted??

That is one nasty looking S-M-C Tak! I have been tempted to do this with a junk lens I have, though I think I would leave most of the body black.

I asked the seller if it was polished and he said yes.

It looks to me that the numbers on the different scales are gone...

Well bad way to pimp a lens.

I think that I might well be leaving that lens with the seller.

The numbers are engraved. The polishing would have to be pretty aggressive to remove that much material - like 50 grit beltsander aggressive.

I got a lens with a lot of the original finish missing, and polishing was one option. I painted it instead. All the external parts can be removed so the paint doesn't ruin anything. From a distance it looks OK, but the paint is easier to damage and looks wrong up close.

What a crock-o-shit! Those lenses have more than likely been buffed up on a polishing mop with abrasive paste, they generate huge amounts of heat and spread abrasive goo everywhere. And unless the polished surface is sealed they will discolour and corrode.
