When do Pentax release that 120-400mm zoom shown in the lens roadmap?

Any ideas on that lens which is supposed to be released after 2013 if it ever comes out? Will it be a sigma rebadged?

Cheers
Guna

I would expect the 120~380 to be released along with the K-3....

Ooh. Where does it say that? I'm eagerly waiting to see what they will come up with and hoping it will be something nice to marry with my much loved 18-135mm.

You can't post anything that isn't true on the Internet. The Internet told me so...

I shall force their hand by buying a 55-300mm. Nothing brings out a new product quite like making a buying decision!

I wanted a long Pentax zoom, but I couldn't wait anymore and purchased a Pentax mount, Sigma 150-500. All my other digital lenses (9) are Pentax. I would rather it be a Pentax....but I'm getting old and I can only wait so long.

Sigma has done a great job supporting the K-mount with a lot of great new lenses in recent years, so you need not feel that you have betrayed Pentax. In fact, you could make the argument that Sigma has done a better job supporting Pentax than Pentax has. Strange but true.

Thanks for the comment. I feel largely the same way. BTW how did you like your Sigma 150-500 ?

I liked it quite a bit. I had previously owned the 170-500mm and I found that image quality of that lens was quite decent...pretty much in line with the various consumer 300mm zoom lenses I had owned. And then when I got the 150-500mm I was pleased to find that it was an all-around better lens. Extremely solid construction and very nice image quality for the price. Noticeably sharper at 500mm than the 170-500mm.

I had a lot of fun with the 500mm focal length, but I didn't need it for my photography and the lens I really wanted was the Sigma 100-300mm f4, so I sold the 150-500mm for a nice profit and last I heard the new owner was enjoying it very much and was thrilled by the image quality compared to their old 500mm solution. For the money, I don't think you can do any better than the 150-500mm.

yes the sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG is the lens to beat - and any improvement upon the Pentax DA* 60-250mm f/4 ED SDM would be welcome.

Pentax K7- Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG

Thanks Edgar for your assessment. I'm looking forward to my 150-500 arriving.
