Pentax SMC 300mm F4 DA* and price in UK

I have done some comparisons about the price with this new lens.

Here we go (prices from WEX)

Pentax SMC 300mm F4 DA* - £999
Canon EF 300mm F4 L IS USM - £878
Nikon 300mm F4 D AF-S IF ED - £798

Either.

1. the Pentax is one hell of a lens, and warrants a premium over the big two.

Or

2. Pentax have got the price wrong.

I just hope it is the former.

Yeah! this is not good....I didn't like you comparsion of the prices for the 200 2.8 as you know the Canon 200mm 2.8 non-IS is unusually low priced for the L lenses in canon, and everyone wants to bring that particular lens for comparison and not the 50 1.4 for instance.

But, the 300 f4 should be the same price ?...sort of negates the advantage of going for an in-body SR does it?

Well, the Pentax lenses tend to drop in price pretty quick. I bet you when the new Canon/Nikon 300/4 just came out, they would cost more than 1000 pounds.
