The Resolution of Glass

I dont remember where I heard it. Some time ago I picked up the idea that glass can transmit light only at such and such resolution.

I understand that different glass will have different resolutions i.e. my DA* will be higher resolution than my kit 18-55.

If anyone has any input on this I can start firing off more questions.

Mitch

Well, resolution for a lens is basically defined as how many alternating white and black bars you can have per mm until you get a middle grey. Sharper optics will get you more resolution upto a point. 1) They exceed your sensor resolution. 2) You get diffusion limited.

Try

Or google MTF tutorials for a detailed explaination.
