But you have the A 28mm f/2.8 which has the same optical formula; still, autofocus is fast and snappy on the F28.

They do show up on eBay as well as the PF Marketplace every now and then. Here's a current eBay listing, although a bit rough cosmetically:

Pentax F SMC 28mm 2 8 RARE Wide Angle Fit Digital Film Pentax SLR Fully Work | eBay

Here is a current Marketplace listing:

True I do have the A28 but I get lazy sometimes and auto focus is so sweet at times

I had the A28 F2.8 and I replaced it with the DA 21 Ltd. More accurately, I found a DA 21 on sale, bought it, liked it a lot more than the A28, and sold the A28.

The A28 is a little less sharp, compared to my DA 21. It has a nice body, and fantastic manual focus. It's FOV was a little tight for street, if you need to manual focus (and the focus peaking on the k-01 isn't good enough for daylight wide angle large DOF manual focusing). In addition, hyperfocal at F8 was still a bit far - so I couldn't just walk around shooting F8 and hyperfocal. The DA 21 solved practically all my issues.

Plus it's got sexy quick shift.

There are two F28 and one FA28 on the marketplace right now. (No, none of them is mine.) I got my FA28 about six months ago. While I have DA21 and love it, I think the 28 is in the same league in terms of IQ and size, just not the build quality. This maybe off the OP topic, but FA28 is vastly underrated.

Someone would post this after I just bought the 18-135mm on Amazon Tuesday!! Can't justify both purchases now. I didn't have a WR lens so when that one showed up for $365 I jumped on it. A lot of the photos I take are in the 20-35mm range so the F28 would have been perfect.

$365 is a great price for that lens. I wouldn't feel too bad about it. Use it awhile and if you don't like it you could probably get what you paid for it.

The 18-135 is great in the 20-35 range. I would say this: any differences in its performance relative to the DA21 or anything else comes down to your shooting. Did you shoot sharply, focus well with good exposure etc. It can provide excellent images in its mid range. And it's WR, and it's small for a zoom, super quick focussing, affordable filter size. Unless you prefer primes in this range, good choice.

The 18-135 came in yesterday and I've only had a chance to just take some snapshots with it. Hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance to work it out.

The only way the 28 could possibly be a better lens than the 18-135 @ 28mm would be in control of CA, it's probably not going to compare in sharpness, and those older lenses are a real crap shoot when it comes to control of CA.
