Sigma 85mm 1.4 and Yongnuo YN-560 II flash on the way thanks to eBay coupons!

I'm not sure what triggers it, but every once in a while I'll get some very nice coupons from eBay. A couple years ago they sent me a coupon for 10% off any item, and I'd been hoping they'd send me another one. Well, today I got an email warning me that my 10% coupon was about to expire. I don't know when they issued it, but it was expiring tomorrow. It was 10% off any item for a maximum saving of $100.

As you can probably tell from my signature, I'm a huge Sigma lens fan, and I'd long had my eye on the Sigma 85mm 1.4 for use at my two daughters' ballet and gymnastics events. So when I saw I had a coupon that was about to expire, I felt like this was the best time to buy. I bought the lens from 47th Street Photo on eBay for $894, but with the coupon it came to $804. My wife took a little convincing (and I still wouldn't call her "convinced"), but the lens is now on the way. "But honey, buying a lens like this is basically like putting money in the bank! I can always resell it and get my money back if we need to." (And if you're from Cyprus, it's probably better than putting money in the bank!)

There doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion of the Sigma 85mm on here, so I look forward to sharing my experiences with it.

While I was checking my coupons on eBay, I discovered that I had another coupon for "$50 off electronics purchase" that was also about to expire. And I couldn't let that happen, so I ordered a Yongnuo YN-560 II hotshoe flash for $74.99 and paid only $24.99. I've read a lot of great things about this flash and I can't wait to start using it with my K-30 and my Olympus E-P1.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everybody know to keep an eye out for those eBay coupons. Here's a link that shows how to check to see if you have any current coupon codes from eBay:

An 85/1.4 is a great lens to have - I think you'll make good use of it. I find that my Pentax 85/1.4 is often the best - or sometimes the only - lens to fit a situation. Despite the lack of zoom, I think you'll find that the f/1.4 aperture often makes it just as flexible (and a good lens to use instead of) your 50-150/2.8.
