Speaking of toy lenses, the construction quality of the sigma 35mm f/1.4 is a noticable improvement over previous Sigma lenses - nowhere near as much plastic as sigma used to use. However being a rather old school photographer I prefer the quality of finish used on the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 lens preferable. Also when manually focusing this lens doesn't have the smooth, precise feel when compared to a real MF lens even the FA31 Limited was better for Manual focusing. Also the lens hood is still made of plastic* which will eventually suffer from wear and become loose - like all the othe EX sigma lense I own

*the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 lens has a solid metal hood.

I did like the rubber lip on the hood but the focus ring was stiff and inertia always caused me to overshoot my target no matter how hard I tried. My Nikkor 35/1.4G is a much more pleasurable lens to use even with the extra CA. I use that lens at f/10 most of the time anyway.

Because THEY SAID SO. They might change their mind although I doubt it as they've already decided to release the '35 and the Pentax market is not currently big enough to make it a worthwhile investment to release two lenses in a similar focal length.

the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 has Bokeh like the interior of a crayon eating babies diaper.

Funniest thing I have read in a long time! Paints a great picture for me as I change a lot of diapers and pick up after a dog who seems to really enjoy eating crayons left on the floor by my kids. Wait a minute, is this supposed to make me want the lens or not?!?

I'm making do with my Sigma 30mm f/1.4, Sigma 28mm f/1.8, Pentax Limited DA 35mm f/2.8 and DA 40mm f/2.8. Enough wide-normal primes to last a lifetime.
