It's pretty dry here and I don't like being out in rain. Snow is more interesting. After a half-hour of seeing what I could get in a wet October snow at night, I used an LED flashlight on this tree.

Snow and Barn (K5 and 16-50).

Waterfall (K5 and 16-50) -- it was raining pretty hard while I was taking photos of these waterfalls...

So, I'm asking for WR Lens opinions and samples of a lens in actual use in the rain.
Interesting.

Judging by the images so far, it seems that photographing rain so that it is still recognisable as such is not easy. Time to do some Flickr browsing to figure out what it is that makes a photo of rain look like rain

It was more of a comment how most of the pictures I find are in clear blue skies with dry ground. Nothing at all that would indicate any weather at all.

I know exactly what you mean. For some reason images that were clearly taken in pouring rain are rare. Perhaps Pentaxians like to stay dry except when they are showing off WR to the Canikon people ?

Back to the original question - I like the DA50-200 WR, some people (usually those who have the DA 55-300) don't. I have both and I prefer the 50-200, especially when travelling. It is a fair bit smaller, lighter and my copy is optically just as good as far as I can tell. On a good day it can be pretty good

I had the 55-300 when I still had my K-x. It was a great lens. I sold it when I sold the K-x to get the money together for my K-5. Since I've been using an old Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6 Macro from ages ago. It's not great but it works.

I'm ok with the 50-200 not being as optically awesome as my 28-75mm f/2.8. I just need good quality and weather resistant so I can go walking in the rain like a jacka** just because I can. Because I shoot Pentax damn it!

These were taken with the standard 50-200, not the wr version. Optically, it is supposed to be the same as the WR version so this should be representative. I think I took these pictures when I was selling it. I do have the wr version, just haven't used it much...

18-55wr taken in the surf. I did get knocked over a few times taking shots like this. However, the camera got a lot more wet when I was kayaking earlier in the year.

I shot some of a yacht race on the local harbour. I had to get out of the car, and into the rain, because all I could see through the car window was

Whereas when out of the car, I managed one or two like

and

I forgot the hood, but I did have some wipedown stuff in the car. These last two were with the 50-200WR, the first with the 18-55WR
